Meet Beth Cooper-Brown, a determined individual who has embraced a new chapter in her marketing career through Professional Academy’s apprenticeship programme. Previously stepping away from formal learning, Beth joined AO with a mix of excitement and apprehension, ready to tackle the Level 4 Marketing Executive Apprenticeship and redefine her professional path.
Beth’s journey began with some uncertainty. She admitted that her time management “wasn’t the best” and hadn’t been in a learning environment for a while, which made her hesitant about embarking on the apprenticeship. However, her curiosity and desire to grow pushed her forward. “My time on the course has flown!” she exclaimed, reflecting on how quickly she adapted and found her rhythm, a testament to her growing enthusiasm for marketing.
Beth’s apprenticeship has been a journey of personal and professional transformation. Initially nervous about presenting, she now tackles it with confidence, no longer losing sleep over it. She’s also embraced data tools and analytics in her meetings, a remarkable leap from her early days at AO when she struggled with Excel. “I am using data tools and analytics in my meetings, even though maths isn’t my strong point, which is a far cry from when I joined,” Beth shared proudly. She’s currently focused on revising for her Maths Functional Skills exam, aiming to pass it within the next couple of months to prepare for her End Point Assessment, potentially themed around “Back to School” if all goes well.
Beth’s success owes much to the robust support from Professional Academy. Her tutors provided tailored guidance, helping her master marketing concepts and build confidence in presenting and data analysis, even when her mathematical skills lagged. During challenging moments—such as juggling coursework with personal adjustments—her mentors stepped in with encouragement and practical advice, ensuring she stayed on track. “The tutors and mentors were incredibly supportive, especially when I needed that extra push,” Beth recalls, highlighting how this backing turned her initial fears into achievements.
One of Beth’s proudest accomplishments is creating the “Did You Know?” section of AO’s website, a creative contribution that showcases her growing expertise. This milestone, along with her improved confidence and analytical skills, marks significant progress in her marketing career, proving the apprenticeship’s real-world impact.
Reflecting on her experience, Beth offers valuable advice: “Find your rhythm early, don’t shy away from challenges like data or presenting, and lean on the resources provided.” Her journey with data tools and analytics, despite her initial discomfort with maths, underscores the importance of perseverance and practice.
Beth’s future is bright with personal aspirations. She hopes to move into AO’s Content team, where her creativity can flourish. While she plans to pursue the CIM Top Up to further her skills, she has no interest in the Level 6 Marketing Manager role, preferring to avoid management. Instead, Beth dreams of becoming self-employed, indulging her passions for travel and fashion by working in social media, leveraging her talents in creativity and visual formats.
