Meet Vesta Anderson, a dynamic professional who has seamlessly blended her legal background with a thriving marketing career through Professional Academy’s apprenticeship programme. Joining AO with a desire to build a new skill set, Vesta embraced the Level 4 Marketing Executive Apprenticeship, eager to complement her previous experience with hands-on marketing knowledge.
Vesta brought a wealth of legal knowledge from her prior role, but she sought to expand her skill set into marketing. Initially, she expected a more theoretical course, but she was pleasantly surprised by its practical approach. “The course is more hands-on than I had anticipated, so it fits well alongside work,” Vesta shared, highlighting how this alignment with her job at AO fuelled her enthusiasm from the start.
Vesta has thoroughly enjoyed her Level 4 Marketing Executive Apprenticeship, gaining a solid foundation in marketing that complements her legal expertise. The hands-on nature of the programme has allowed her to learn extensively, building confidence in her abilities. “The workshops are great, and the tutor, Andy, makes them personable even when they are online,” she noted, crediting the engaging delivery for her growth. This boost in confidence has transformed her into a more active participant, as she now speaks up in meetings and shares ideas with ease—a stark contrast to her initial reservations.
Vesta’s success is deeply tied to the exceptional support from Professional Academy. Her tutors, including Andy, have created a welcoming and interactive learning environment through workshops, helping her master marketing concepts and apply them practically. During moments of doubt or workload pressure, her mentor, Diane, provided invaluable guidance, offering encouragement and tailored strategies to keep her motivated. “The tutors and my mentor have been a lifeline, especially when balancing work and study got tough,” Vesta reflects, underscoring how this support has been key to her progress.
One of Vesta’s notable achievements is her growing confidence and active role in meetings, a direct result of her apprenticeship experience. She’s proud of the marketing foundation she’s built, which enhances her unique legal perspective, making her a valuable asset at AO. Looking ahead, she is preparing for her End Point Assessment, themed around Black Friday, a challenging yet exciting milestone.
Drawing from her journey, Vesta advises future students: “Embrace the hands-on elements and don’t hesitate to engage in workshops—they’re where the real learning happens.” She encourages leveraging the personable teaching style to build confidence and apply new skills in the workplace, a strategy that has worked wonders for her.
Vesta’s ambitions are both exciting and diverse. She plans to pursue the CIM Top Up following her apprenticeship, followed by the Level 6 Marketing Manager Apprenticeship to further her expertise. While she enjoys her role at AO and may stay long-term, she also harbours a passion for fashion and antiques. Ultimately, she envisions a future where she might blend these interests, potentially carving out a self-directed career path.
